A Quick Cedar Waxwing Visit

While I was reading my latest book The Big Year by Mark Obmascik which just so happens to be about bird watching.  I heard a ruckus out my window at the birdbath so I got up to see what was going on and this is what I saw.   I ran to get my camera and was able to take a few quick photos before they all flew away.  I wish I had had the time to put on the other lens to my new camera so that I could have gotten a close up shot.

  1. Oh my gosh!!! I live in Utah and from what everyone says, Waxwings are plentiful around here, but in the 63 years I have lived here I had never seen one, except in my Bird's and Blooms magazines. My hubby told me he saw hundreds of them when he was growing up. *sigh*...I'll just keep watching. We have a wonderful community of doves, Chickadees, Finches, Sparrows, Jays and Sparrows in both of our gigantic Spruce trees, and Hummers are plentiful after the first week in April, but the Cedar Waxwings continue to elude me. So thanks so much for this 'glimpse' of these beauties. We have a new deck and I'm hoping that as I sit there in the morning's and evenings stitching, some Waxwings will pay me a visit. Hugs...

  2. I'm sorry you haven't had the pleasure. They were back the next day then gone again. Maybe this year will be your year!
