Knitting Needle Roll

My Partner has taken up knitting and crocheting in a big way.  Recently she asked me to make her a fabric roll to hold her needles.  I searched through several tutorials and landed on this one here.  I used Malka Dubrawsky's Simple Marks line that I got from www.fatquartershop.com.   I just love her designs and I think it made for a fun little project.  Now I just need to wash the chalk marks off and it will be ready to go.  I think my partner is going to love this!

 The back.

I even used the Moda ribbon that came around my fat quarter bundle as the ribbon that wraps around the roll.

Quilt for the President of Rackspace

I was contacted by the "First Lady" of Rackspace to construct a T-shirt quilt for her husband, Lew Moorman, as birthday present.   She and I sat and picked over stacks and stacks of Rackspace shirts that he had been collecting over the past 12 +years.   This quilt now hangs in the executive area at the Rackspace headquarters in San Antonio.  I think it looks great against the red wall.

Primitive Garden Bench Project

Several months ago we acquired an old ranch trailer from a close friend of ours.  This trailer had a lot of sentimental value to us because it had once belonged to a now deceased neighbor of ours.  For that reason, we saved the old trailer deck boards for a future project. This last weekend that project became a garden bench.  I did some looking and found this simple bench plan here.   I wanted to paint something  on the side that would fancy it up a bit and give it an antique or primitive look... like it had been painted for a very long time.   I found this awesome and super easy tutorial  by Diddle Dumpling where you easily transfer images printed on an inkjet printer straight to a wood surface using only water and a little rubbing.  It really is that easy!!  After it was good and dry, I applied a good coat of polyurethane.  We love the way it turned out!  I will definitely use this fun and easy method of transferring images again.

Folding Stool with Necktie Seat

I've been looking for ideas of things to make with all these neckties that I have.  I found this plan for a homemade folding stool.   I modified the canvas seat to accommodate  my ties.  I need decide how I want to treat the wood, I could paint it or stain it.  It's been really a fun and simple project.

Bereavement Wall Hangings

This week I made 3 Memorial wall hangings for a high school acquaintance.  I made these from the clothes of her sweet mother-in-law who passed several months ago.  I love this way of preserving the memories of loved ones.
